Students threw multi-digit multiplication problems as “snowballs” and then solved the problems.

The Schuylkill Haven Area Middle School Chorus members hosted a holiday party for special guests including grandparents, friends and neighbors.
This year’s party featured M&M checkers and Bingo. Hot cocoa, cupcakes and treats were also enjoyed.
Some of our party-goers competed in the Reindeer Antler Ring Toss. The competition was fierce and ended in a tie!
A crowd favorite, The Jingle Bell Rock…featured competitors dancing to shake out as many jingle bells as possible!
Lastly, everyone wagered a guess on the Number of candies in the candy jar. Congratulations to Elizabeth Fenstermacher and Oliver Bensinger who each guessed the correct number: 73.
SHAMS Chorus is grateful to the Peter R. Marsh Foundation for a generous grant bestowed upon the Music Department. The Peter R. Marsh Grant is given to middle school music programs that provide opportunities for students to engage with Senior Citizens in the community.










The count down to break has started! Today, was our first Middle School Turkey Trot! Thank you to the students and staff for their participation. A special Thank You to Mrs. Leymeister for making this day happen. Thank you for the students for working hard. Thank you to the staff for taking on another crazy adventure. Tomorrow begins grade level soccer tournaments. We have so much to be thankful for at Schuylkill Haven Area Middle School!


The Schuylkill Haven Area Middle School is excited to announce our first Turkey Trot! We look forward to spending Monday afternoon participating in various fun and games! We are so grateful for the staff that made this event possible and the students that work so hard. We are so thankful for our SHAMS community!

We were able to raise enough money for 58 students to earn a free yearbook! Special thanks to “That Fudge Place” for the great fudge and their awesome generosity!


SHAMS Achieve students spent the day at Penn State Schuylkill celebrating STEM Saturday. They joined other Schuylkill County students in learning about STEM Careers like nursing, radiology, and cyber security. It was great to learn about the college and visit their beautiful campus!

These students achieved the highest average award in their reading and social studies classes for the first marking period in 5th grade.

6th grade general music students have been learning to play ukulele! Students learned to read pitches on the treble staff to play melodies and also learned to strum several chords.






5th grade General Music class learned about the composer Camille Saint Saens and his composition “Dance Macabre”. Students worked together to create movement that depicted the story. Students learned that Program music tells a story and that composers use instruments, melodies and rhythm to tell the story without using words. Students demonstrated the ability to recognize instruments and themes in the music. Students enjoyed watching the video of their finished project!
