
SHAMS Achieve students spent the day at Penn State Schuylkill celebrating STEM Saturday. They joined other Schuylkill County students in learning about STEM Careers like nursing, radiology, and cyber security. It was great to learn about the college and visit their beautiful campus!

These students achieved the highest average award in their reading and social studies classes for the first marking period in 5th grade.

6th grade general music students have been learning to play ukulele! Students learned to read pitches on the treble staff to play melodies and also learned to strum several chords.






5th grade General Music class learned about the composer Camille Saint Saens and his composition “Dance Macabre”. Students worked together to create movement that depicted the story. Students learned that Program music tells a story and that composers use instruments, melodies and rhythm to tell the story without using words. Students demonstrated the ability to recognize instruments and themes in the music. Students enjoyed watching the video of their finished project!

Schuylkill Haven Area Middle School is kicking off Red Ribbon Week on Wednesday, October 23rd, and we’re ready to celebrate with a week full of spirit and meaningful messages! 🎉 Each day has a special theme to help us unite against drugs and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. ❤️📬 Mrs. Greenawalt’s Middle School ACHIEVE students showed the true meaning of kindness and community by creating heartfelt, hand-written cards for the students of Brevard County, North Carolina, who were impacted by Hurricane Helene. 🌪️✍️
A special thank you to Mrs. Reiley for connecting with Stephanie from the local school to make sure these messages of hope and support reach those who need them most. We’re proud of our students for spreading compassion beyond our community. 🤝✨

For their final project in social studies, fifth-grade students were tasked with exploring and researching one of the original 13 colonies. They had the option to create a Google Slides presentation or design a brochure.






Students can earn a FREE Middle School Yearbook by participating in our Fudge Fundraiser! Orange Fundraiser forms were sent home with ALL SHAMS students this week! Orders are due by October 28th.

Tonight, our talented middle school band took center stage and as always, delivered an absolute amazing performance!
A huge round of applause to all the students who dedicated countless hours to perfecting their craft, as well as to our amazing music teacher, Mrs. Cappella, for her guidance and instruction.

The mini-THON Easter flower sale orders have arrived at the middle school. Flower orders can be picked up at the middle school office today until 4:00 PM.
