In March, the Schuylkill County Mental Health and Developmental Services held a poster contest for 4th and 5th grade as part of their Mental Health Awareness Month activities starting in May. This theme this year was “Be a Mental Health Super Hero”. 5th Graders Sadie Tokarick won 3rd place and Alivia Wolfgang was an honorable mention. Sadie’s poster will be turned into a billboard located just south of the Freeze on Rt 61. Alivia’s poster will be made into placements for surrounding restaurants. We spent the morning riding bike on the Swatara Creek Rail Trail. We started the day by going over safety tips on riding and different maneuvers. We stopped at different locations along the trail to eat lunch and to have group discussions. At the end of the day we went to a more advanced trail for anyone who wanted to attempt a more advanced trail.
