💌 Hearts Around the World is coming to SHAMS Achieve! 🌎
Our Schuylkill Haven Area Middle School Achieve (After School Program) students are taking on a beautiful challenge — to collect valentines, postcards, and kind notes from all 50 states and from countries around the world to show just how far love and kindness can travel. ❤️
Each piece of mail becomes more than just a card — it becomes a lesson in geography, culture, and connection. Our students will be mapping where each heart comes from and learning about the people and places behind them.
We’d love for our local community, alumni, families, and friends across the globe to be part of this special project. Whether you’re in Schuylkill Haven, across Pennsylvania, or on the other side of the world, your kindness can make a difference.

The following students represented Schuylkill Haven Area School District in the PMEA District 10 Elementary Band Fest: Jade Fisher, Liam Gross, Hailey Houghton, Delilah Howells and Riley Nguyeno. Elizabeth Fenstermacher was selected but could not attend so “Flat Elizabeth” attended the event. Students rehearsed for a few hours under the direction of composer and band director, Dr. Scott Watson (see photos of the program for his biography). The day concluded with an outstanding performance for family and friends. Congratulations to these fine musicians on a successful concert!
The following students represented Schuylkill Haven Area School District in the Lebanon Valley College Middle School Band fest on Thursday, January 8th:
Ellie Ellett, Colton Ellex, Owen Frank, Adrianna Grubel, Ayla Marx, Nolan Muldowney, Aubrey Oswald, Camryn Siket, Ashley Snyder, Sadie Tokarick, and Mackenzie Walker. Charley Jenkins was selected but could not attend so “Flat Charley” attended the event. Students received the music that day and rehearsed for a few hours followed by an outstanding performance for family and friends. Congratulations to these fine musicians on a successful concert!

The Creative Chaos Crew was back to creating, this time alongside Mrs. Hink’s wonderful 7th Grade Friends. United by a shared goal of spreading holiday cheer, our crew thoughtfully crafted handmade ornaments for two local nursing homes, hoping to bring smiles and warmth to everyone who receives them this holiday season.

Middle School Achieve is spreading holiday cheer in the sweetest ways! Our students “CANE’d” faculty and staff by surprising them with a candy cane and a kind note to brighten their day. They also created heartfelt holiday cards for local nursing home residents, sharing joy and connection beyond our school walls. We’re so proud of our students for leading with kindness, creativity, and compassion this season! ❤️🎅

Due to unforeseen circumstances, tonight’s SHAMS Winter Concert has been postponed.
The concert has been rescheduled for next Thursday, December 18th at 7:00pm in the SHAMS Auditorium.
We know our students have been working incredibly hard, and we can’t wait for you to hear the most wonderful notes of the season next week! 🌟🎄

Message regarding inclement weather for Tuesday, December 2, 2025.
December means a whole month of fun dress days to countdown to the winter holidays! We must have been in tune with Mother Nature when we planned boot day for tomorrow!

A valued member of our Schuylkill Haven Area School District family has recently experienced a serious medical emergency. During this challenging time, we want to come together as a community to show our support.

The Schuylkill Haven Area Middle School chorus members were invited to perform musical selections at the 275th Community Celebration of Thanksgiving at St. Ambrose Church on Sunday, November 16th.
SHAMS Chorus members sang three selections and enjoyed hearing the Combined Choirs of Grace Evangelical, Jerusalem Lutheran, St. Ambrose RC, and St. Mark’s UCC, the organist, pianist, flautist and St. Mark’s UCC Handbell choir perform. The chorus is grateful for the opportunity to sing for our Schuylkill Haven Community.
Chorus members and families who stayed for the entire service were gifted beautiful Christmas Ornaments commemorating the celebration. Thank you to the 275th Anniversary Committee for organizing this special event!
