In 5th Grade ELA, we are currently reading the nonfiction story The Inventor’s Secret: What Thomas Edison Told Henry Ford. Today, students participated in an Invention Gallery Walk! They explored several inventions from the past and worked to determine what each invention was, what problem it was designed to solve, and how we use it—or something similar—today. It was a fun, hands-on way for students to connect what we are learning in our nonfiction text to real-world inventions and their impact on our lives.

Our Hurricane Cabinet needs some help with supplies. This Friday happens to be Dolly Parton Day (9/25). In the generous spirit of Dolly, we’re asking students to bring in at least one nonperishable item into their homeroom. Boxes will be provided. The HR that collects the most items will win a sweet treat from Mrs. McGinty.
This is already a dress down day for faculty. If you have not prepaid, you can either pay cash or bring in a nonperishable item. Payment for this date will go towards purchasing more items for the Hurricane Cabinet.
Students and faculty are encouraged to dress in a western/country theme.

💜 Wear Purple. Spread Hope. Share Kindness.
Next Wednesday, September 23, we’re asking our school community to wear purple as we come together to spread a simple but powerful message: hope, kindness, and connection matter.
A purple shirt, hoodie, accessory, or even a little purple flair can help remind someone that they are seen, supported, and never alone.
Let’s fill our schools with purple and show that small acts of kindness can make a big difference. 💜
