Stepping into the real world—one question at a time 💼✨
Today in our YES 1 class, students put their skills to the test during a hands-on Mock Interview Workshop!
Half the class took on the role of interviewers, creating stations with 5 thoughtful questions each. The other half rotated through, answering on the spot and showcasing their communication and professionalism.
The twist? 👀
Interviewers had the final say—would they hire their peers based on their responses?
An engaging way to build confidence, practice real-world skills, and maybe even land that “job!” 👏

A Quick Clarification from SHASD

Important Reminder – Use of Rotary Field
The Schuylkill Haven Area School District recently became aware of the unauthorized use of Rotary Field this past Sunday for an organized soccer training clinic.
We are proud to offer high-quality facilities for our students and community, but to ensure safety, fairness, and proper maintenance, all use of Rotary Field must be approved in advance.
Please be reminded of the following requirements:
Facility Use Approval Required
All groups must receive prior district approval, complete a rental agreement, provide a certificate of liability insurance, and submit payment before using Rotary Field.
Sunday Use Restrictions
District policy prohibits any use of school grounds before 1:00 PM on Sundays.
These procedures are in place to:
protect participants and spectators
ensure compliance with district insurance requirements
maintain the quality and safety of our facilities
We kindly ask all community members and organizations to follow these guidelines moving forward.
Please review the attached announcement for full details on campus and field usage.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and respectful environment for all members of the Haven Family.

The Pythagorean Python took home top honors in our classroom roller-coaster showcase as 8th grade Intro to Geometry students put their understanding of the Pythagorean Theorem into action. Students designed and built their own model roller coasters, applying geometric concepts to real-world engineering. High School Art Club and Mrs. Schock's students had the opportunity to travel to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. They saw three floors of art exhibits, ate in the cafe', and climbed the Rocky Stairs!

To conclude Disability Awareness Week at SHAHS, we had the true honor of welcoming guest speaker Jaden Lieby to speak with our high school students.
Jaden shared his powerful story of resilience after being paralyzed from a tackle during a football game — a moment that changed his life forever. What could have been defined as tragedy has instead become a testimony of strength, courage, and unwavering determination.
Our students heard firsthand what it means to face adversity, to redefine your purpose, and to choose perseverance over bitterness. Jaden’s message went far beyond football. He spoke about gratitude, mindset, family, faith, and the importance of supporting one another — lessons that reach far beyond the field and into everyday life.
Disability Awareness Week is about more than understanding physical differences — it’s about empathy, inclusion, and recognizing the strength in every individual. Jaden’s story reminded us that challenges do not define us… how we respond to them does.
Thank you, Jaden, for your vulnerability, your honesty, and for inspiring the Hurricanes to lead with compassion and resilience. 💙💛

👁️ Seeing Science Up Close! 🧪
Our Honors Anatomy & Physiology students got a true eye-opening experience as they rolled up their sleeves and dove into a cow eyeball dissection! From identifying key structures to exploring how the eye processes the world around us, students were able to connect classroom learning with real-world anatomy in a hands-on way.
Opportunities like this spark curiosity, build critical thinking skills, and give our students a deeper appreciation for the complexity of the human body. Great work to our future healthcare professionals and scientists for embracing the challenge and not blinking at the chance to learn! 👏🔬
