The Elementary Center held a book swap May 15-19. During library class every student was able to select a book to take home for summer reading. Students can choose to keep the book or trade it in next school year. Some books are donated by our families and some books are purchased through profits from the Scholastic Book Fairs held twice each school year. Information about next year's book swap and how donations can be offered will be made available next school year.

Third Grade had an amazing time at Fun Day! Thank you to both Mrs. Laura Rhody and Mrs. Maryanne Rhody for planning and implementing a great Fun Day. Thank you to the PTO parent volunteers, teacher husbands, and amazing High School Student Council members who also made this day wonderful!!!

Third Grade went on a field trip to a local farm, Jersey Acres last week. The students got to see where our school milk is from, how to grow local vegetables and fruit and of course had ice cream to end the day.

The Schuylkill Haven Elementary Center kindergarten class wrote letters to the senior class for their Letter K – “Kindness” lesson. The kindergarten students hand delivered their letters to our seniors today. The senior class would like to thank the kindergarten students and their teachers for this kind gesture.

Coming soon to the Elementary Center…Petey! Petey was recently trained as a therapy dog and will be joining us next year school year. He and, Miss Evans, who is the Life Skills Support teacher in the Elementary Center are working hard on his new skills to ensure that he is ready to help our staff and students as a new member of the Haven HERO team. More information about Petey’s role will be shared with families over the summer. We would like to thank the faculty and staff that donated to help Petey become our therapy dog. We would also like to thank the sponsors that helped make this possible:

March 30th a small group of students from the EC visited Harrisburg where they toured the Capitol Building and the State Museum of Pennsylvania. While at the Capitol, the students had an opportunity to listen to a live budget appropriations session in the State House of Representatives. They also saw the floor of the Senate and the chambers of the State Supreme Court.
